It is not just because it is full to the brim of childrens books, with a dab of eductional puzzles and games, but because of the knowledgable staff and broad range of wonderful books it has that makes this place so special.
It has all the usuals, like Dr Seuss and Hairy Maclary, and those that you have easily heard of before, like Maisy and Zac Power, but it also has books that you have probably never heard of before that are fantastic reads. These people can help you get excited about reading ... and even better it gets the kids excited about reading too - which I am sure is their main objective!
Every book can easily be seen on the shelf, and even more importantly, it has an absolutely superb range of NZ books. Some of these books you may know exist, like the Margaret Mahy one 'Down the Back of the Chair' (which has been absolutely thrashed in our house), but there are many more that you may not know exist and are great favourites with the kids.
One of the books we read quite often is the series about Kiwi. Kiwi loves to play rugby for his team the Pipis with his best pals, Kea, Kakapo, Heron, Koura and Kiore under the watchful eye of Coach Morepork. Proud of his black jersey and the silver fern logo, Kiwi learns that friendship, fair play and teamship are just as important as the rules and playing skills
This place beats most of the larger bookshops hands down because of its range of childrens books. It has a great atmosphere and it is totally child-friendly of course!
Do make a visit for either your children or a present for another. You will be very impressed. Some of you Ex-Pats may want to buy over the net for special pressies overseas, so the web page is also listed below.
